Exceptional set combining two original color lithographs by André Masson together with the rare Georges Bataille text « Corps célestes » and its striking original abstract double-page composition by Masson. This authentic VERVE ensemble includes. « Soleil » – original color lithograph by André Masson. « Lune » – original color lithograph by André Masson. « Corps célestes » by Georges Bataille with original abstract double-page composition by André Masson. Printed by Mourlot, Paris, for VERVE n°2 (1938). These are authentic period lithographs – not reproductions. The ensemble perfectly captures the poetic cosmic imagery and surrealist experimentation associated with the Paris avant-garde of the late 1930s. The vivid colors, biomorphic forms and abstract celestial motifs create a remarkably modern decorative presence. A rare opportunity to acquire an original pre-war VERVE grouping linking. One corner with visible soft crease.
